The Kalona City Council met Monday night to discuss their fiscal year 2012 budget.  City Clerk Karen Christner says there was no input from the public and the budget was approved.  The Council also heard an update on the downtown revitalization project.

Christner says All American Concrete is preparing to resume work on the project as soon as the weather will allow.  She says the Kalona Optimists gave a proposal of creating an Avenue of Flags of installing flag poles in residents’ right-of-way and putting up flags on different holidays throughout the year.

Christner says the council did not take any action on this proposal.  She says the Council is proposing to asphalt and install storm sewer pipe on D Avenue and is working on gathering bids for this project.  The next Kalona City Council meeting will be Monday, March 21st.
