The Keokuk County Board of Supervisors met in regular session yesterday morning and created a plan to hire a new county engineer.  Board Chairman Michael Berg says they have started the process of filling the vacancy. He says they are working with Washington County Engineer David Patterson to find the right candidate.

Berg says they received 9 applications and will be interviewing 2 candidates next week. He says they are hoping to have an engineer hired as soon as possible.

They also held a discussion about the county floodplain ordinance. The Supervisors learned that if a resident has Federal money involved in their mortgage, they must take out flood insurance if they live in the floodplain area.

During their meeting, they approved the application for the use of the Courthouse for an Easter Egg Hunt in April as well. The next Keokuk County Board of Supervisors meeting will be Monday, the 28th at 8:30 am in the Board Room of the Keokuk County Courthouse.
