A fire at 110 Main Street in Columbus Junction has claimed the life of two people and injured two others. At 2:42 pm yesterday, the Louisa County dispatch center received a 911 call of a fire located at 110 Main Street in Columbus Junction. Upon arrival, the Columbus Junction Fire Department discovered a subject trapped inside the structure who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

There were also two injured in the fire. One was taken by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospitals the other refused treatment.

While searching the building, officials discovered a second subject deceased. Those assisting the Columbus Junction Fire Department were the Conesville Fire Department and Wapello Fire Department, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Department and Louisa County Ambulance. The state Fire Marshall’s Office and the Columbus Junction Police Department are conducting an investigation.

The names of the victims have not been released until notification of relatives. KCII will bring you more information on this story as it becomes official.
