Today is National Ag Day a day set aside to recognize and celebrate the contribution of agriculture in our everyday lives.  According to agday.org, the National Ag Day program encourages every American to understand how food and fiber products are produced, value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy, and appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.

Today, each American farmer feeds more than 144 people, up from 25 people that were fed in the 1960s.  In Washington County 1257 farms cover over 325,000 acres of land, which accounts for over 89% of the land in the county.  Listen next week as KCII will be airing special programs at 1:00 and 6:00 each weekday in honor of Ag Week.
