A proposed law will change the way liquor sales are conducted in Iowa.

The new law will allow convenience stores in the state to sell hard liquor in open areas and not have it in a separate walled off room.  Ruth Comer, Spokesperson for Hy-Vee says they are not sure how they will respond to the new law yet.

She says they will study the law and see if they need make any changes.  Comer says they did not lobby for this bill and feels that the larger convenience stores had more of a stake in the bill’s passage.  This proposed law is awaiting Governor Terry Branstad’s signature.
