A Mid-Prairie basketball player was among a hand full in the state to be recognized for his performance on the court and more significantly, his performance in the classroom. The Golden Hawks Christian Swartzentruber was selected to the Basketball-Academic All-State Team. Mid-Prairie Head Coach Don Showalter says this is quite an honor that only three Mid-Prairie players have received in the school’s history. He says it’s based on academic performance, ACT scores, and you must be a starter for your team. The Golden Hawks nearly had two receive the honor. Showalter says Dylan Hochstetler met the academic requirements, but because he had to miss a significant portion of the season due to a shoulder injury suffered last summer, he lacked the playing time needed to make the team.
