The Washington City Council is set to meet tonight and during their meeting they will be holding a public hearing regarding the purchase of 303 East Washington Street. The council members will also be establishing a new date for the submission of bids for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvement Project. City Administrator Dave Plyman says this project is required by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to eliminate all sanitary sewer overflows within the city limits.
He says these overflows are experienced during rainy weather conditions. Plyman says the estimated cost of this project is $16.5 million. He says the work has to be completed by October 2013.
He says the project award date will also be set with the bid submission date. The Washington City Council meets tonight at 6:00 in the old public library.
