The Washington Fire Department is receiving a grant from the US Government.  Senator Chuck Grassley’s office says the Fire Department is receiving almost $72,000 from the US Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to be used to recruit and train firefighters, purchase equipment and improve fire stations and facilities.

Senator Grassley says “firefighters need the right equipment in order to protect their communities and these funds help make sure they have access to what they need.”  The funds awarded were based on the fire department’s ability to meet criteria set by the US Department of Homeland Security and FEMA who administers the funds.  Senator Grassley says the funds will be available to the Fire Department on Friday.
