The Washington School Board met in regular session last night and during their meeting they heard an update on the construction of the new high school. Dan Culp from Carl A. Nelson and Company shared that most of the precast walls are up and that portion of the project is ahead of schedule. He shared with the Board that the steel frame is on time at this point.
Culp added the building frame should be enclosed within 2 weeks and the roofing portion should start on March 21st. He added the weather has been making construction difficult and the project is still on budget.
Also during the meeting, High School Principal Erik Buchholz presented a proposal of having a senior privilege of early dismissal. This privilege would mean all seniors could leave early during the 4th term if they met all the requirements.
The Board voted 4 to 1 in allowing this privilege. These privileges can be revoked if school staff does not see it being productive. The next School Board meeting will be Wednesday, April 13th at the Central Office.
