A Brighton native has been named as the Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at Texas State University in San Marcos.  Timothy Mottet has been named as the new Dean and will start his new position on July 1st.  This appointment represents a homecoming for Mottet.

From 1998-2007, Mottet was a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies at Texas State. He earned tenure in 2003 and was promoted to full professor in 2007.

Mottet has also co-authored four books, published 50 peer-review journal articles and book chapters and presented over 45 competitively selected conference papers at regional, national and international conferences.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Jewell College, a Master of Science degree from Boston University, and a Doctor of Education from West Virginia University.

Mottet is a 2010 graduate of Harvard University’s Management Development Program for higher education leaders.  Timothy Mottet graduated from Washington High School and is the son of Duane and Carol Mottet from Brighton and the brother of Julie Johnson who is the Clerk of Court in Washington County.
