The Demons track and field teams were at Williamsburg’s co-ed meet last night, and the girls look like they have a Drake qualifier. On the boys side the team standings looked like this:
1 Solon
2 Vinton-Shelsburg
3 Grinnell
4 Williamsburg
5 Washington

Demon Head Coach Steve Roth says they had some big performances in the 110 high hurdles and the 4×2 team was able to lower their time a little, even without Landon Coker, who was out with a little leg tweak. Some of the big finishes on the night:

110 High Hurdles – Colin Steele 2nd 16.14, Logan Moeller 3rd 16.36
800 Meter Run – Kyle Cox 2nd 2:12
Long Jump – Alex Coker 3rd 18′ 6”
4×8 – 2nd Noah Lebsack, Kyle Cox, Matt Kuntz, Mitchell Hora 9:02
4×2 – 2nd Josh Moore, Alex Coker, Parker Turner, Anthony Ossman 1:33
4×1 – 3rd Jake Redlinger, Anthony Ossman, Parker Turner, Alex Coker

The Demon Girls got 3rd as a team. Heading in Head Coach Howard Beam mentioned he wanted to run the same four girls in the 4×8, 4×2 and 4×4 and he was pleased especially in the 4×4 where they ran 4:10. He says the last few years the cut off for Drake has been 4:11. One component of the Drake Relays is a high school all-star portion in which the top performers in the state regardless of classification compete. Some of the big finishes last night for the girls:
