Road construction work will cause intermittent lane closures on Highway 1 from Highway 22 northeast to the junction with U.S. 218, beginning today, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office. While work is going on, traffic will be restricted to one lane in a two-mile section from a half hour after sunrise to a half hour before sunset in the construction zone. Traffic will be guided through the work area with a pilot car and flaggers, and traffic patterns will return to normal when workers are not present.
The project is expected to be completed by Friday, May 13.
