A popular annual event takes place in Kalona this weekend, but this year is particularly special as the Woodin Wheel is sponsoring the 40th Kalona Quilt Show Thursday through Saturday evening.  Katie Karnes, one of the event’s directors, says the show will feature both English and Amish quilts, a walking quilt block tour, and quilts for sale.  She also says people will have the chance to win prizes through special raffles in honor of the 40th year of the show.

The event is scheduled to be held at the Kalona Community Center from five until eight Thursday, nine a.m. to seven p.m. Friday, and nine a.m. to five p.m. Saturday.  One adult ticket is five dollars, which Karnes says is good for all three days of the show.
