Lake Odessa in Louisa County is being raised to get ready for a forecast crest on the Mississippi River.  This rise by state and federal wildlife personnel is in anticipation of the water that is expected to overtop the Odessa levee system. By lowering the difference in water levels before the levee is topped may prevent long-term damage to the levee system.

As the water rises, it will affect all boat ramps, parking lots, and access roads. Those who use the area and property owners Lake Odessa are urged to take precautions to prepare for the rise in water levels. For more information, contact Andy Robbins at (319) 523-8319.
