Mushroom hunters will have a chance to start their search soon.  Steve Anderson, Director of the Washington County Conservation Board says when the weather warms up to expect a “morel frenzy” in the next couple of weeks.  He says morels are Washington County and Iowa’s favorite edible mushroom.

Anderson notes all of the wooded area that is managed by the Conservation Board has an excellent opportunity for mushrooms.  He adds morels can reappear in the same location more than once in a season.  Anderson says when hunting, to be mindful of ticks and any mosquitoes.
