The Washington Demon boys and girls track and field teams held the Demon Relays Friday, and it was a record breaking night. The meet was suppose to be Thursday, but rain postponed the meet. On Friday the Demon girls won the meet, while on the boys side Washington finished runner up to Mediapolis. Demon Boys Head Coach Steve Roth says seventeen records fell on the night. Columbus Sophomore Heaven Chandler broke two of them. Roth says it seems like times are lower this season looking at results around the state. He says part of that might be more athletes, especially in bigger schools, focusing primarily on track and field. As for the Demons they have this week and part of next to qualify for Drake and as it stands Roth says the 4×2, and Colin Steele in the 110 high hurdles are on the bubble. He says the 4×1 and Jake Redlinger in the high jump should be qualified. The Demons head to Davis County tomorrow.
