The second phase of road work on South 9th Avenue begins tomorrow.  Road crews are preparing to work on South 9th Avenue between Van Buren and Polk Streets in Washington.  City Engineer Rob McDonald says detour signs and barricades are being placed tomorrow.

He says hauling operations will likely occur on Sitler Drive, South E Avenue, Buchanan Street and possibly Lincoln Street with base preparation and curb and gutter replacement to follow.  McDonald says the last part of the project will involve asphalt milling and overlay work on Polk Street, on 5th Street between Marion and North 2nd Street and on Marion and Iowa Streets between the railroad track and 5th Street.

He adds some repair or replacement of the storm water intakes and curb and gutter are associated with these other streets.  McDonald says new concrete intersections will be installed on 5th Street at Marion Avenue and at Iowa Avenue.
