Severe Weather Awareness Week continues and KCII is working with the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities on looking at different topics related to severe weather. So far this week we have discussed flash flooding, warning reception and tornadoes. Today, we will be discussing severe thunderstorms.
Tomorrow, you will hear about family preparedness. Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith says thunderstorms can happen any time during the year.
He says when the National Weather Service issues a severe thunderstorm warning, they now issue warnings for only a certain area instead of the entire county. To learn more about severe thunderstorms, listen to Larry during today’s In Touch With Southeast Iowa program.
