The State Theater in Washington is set to host a gala celebration tonight.  The theater which opened in 1893 as the Graham Opera House suffered extensive damage from a fire last November.  Main Street Washington is having the fundraising gala tonight to help cover the costs to return the outside of the theater to its historic look.

Amy Vetter with Main Street Washington says they have already sold over 200 tickets so far and tickets will be available tonight.  She adds they have raised almost $15,000 toward the theater’s renovation.

The gala and re-opening of the theater will have showings of silent films complete with accompanying piano, scenes from plays performed there, a 3‑D presentation on the new digital projection equipment and other surprises.   Tickets are $50 for the black-tie gala which starts at 7:00 tonight at the State Theater.
