The City of Washington Water Department has issued a boil order and water emergency until further notice.  Water Plant Superintendent Chad McCleary says the water is safe to use for bathing, however all water should be boiled before it is consumed.  He encourages all residents to conserve water until the order has been lifted.

Tony Crone with the Water Department says a water main break at 7th Street and 7th Avenue occurred yesterday morning because of the ground shifting and the freeze and thaw cycle occurring in the system.  The main was fixed Sunday afternoon and the intersection was open to traffic Sunday evening.
