A local student is showing the world his abilities in the world of scientific research.  The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair was Maharishi School senior Atreya Dey’s chance to present the international community with his research on how to use nanoparticles and magnetism to extract pollutants from the water. He took fourth place in the Environmental Management category for that research, won $500, and was also commended by the U.S. Army and Navy.

Over 1,500 young scientists gathered in Los Angeles for the fair earlier this month, and Dey placed in the top 5 in his category. Dey says the fair was an experience of a lifetime, and meeting with Nobel Laureates and other scientifically driven students inspired him to continue on the path of science.
