The deadline is approaching for eligible farm owners to apply for the 2011 Century and Heritage Farm Program.  This program recognizes families that have owned their farm for at least 100 years.  A Century Farm is for a family that has owned their farm for 100 years and a Heritage Farm has been owned for 150 years.

A ceremony recognizing this year’s Century and Heritage Farms will be held during the Iowa State Fair.  Since this program first started in 1976 almost 200 Century Farms have been recognized in Washington County.

Farm families interested in participating in the Century or Heritage Farm Program needs to have their application postmarked no later than June 1st.  For more information on Century and Heritage Farms, click here.
