The Washington Demon track and field teams were in Keokuk for the Southeast Conference Meet. On the girls side the Demons had five champions but finished third as a team. Fairfield won with 109, Mount Pleasant was second with 106.5, and the Demons scored 87 points. Head Coach Howard Bean says they were a little disappointed because they were hoping to score better as a team, but he says having five conference titles was very nice. Some of the highlights for the Demons:

Shot Put – Jenna Krebs 2nd, Joni Irwin 3rd

On the boys side, Mount Pleasant won the team title with 139 points and the Demons finished second with 84. Head Coach Steve Roth says they knew they were going to have to run a super meet to catch Mount Pleasant, but winning the 4×1, seven second place finishes, six thirds and five personal bests was great.
