A former Washington Demon softball player will be playing in the national junior college tournament. Greta Smeins pitches for Iowa Western in Council Bluffs. Her team won a best of three to win their district title this weekend to get a spot in the national championship tournament in St. George, Utah. Iowa Western lost the first game but bounced back to take the two must win games. The national tournament will start May 19th. Smeins is a freshman and last week won the NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week award for her performance in regional play. She ended up with six wins that week.
