The City of Kalona is helping people do away with any old items they have been meaning to throw out.  The Kalona Citywide Cleanup day is from 9 to 2 today.  City Clerk Karen Christner says this event is only open to residents of the city of Kalona.

The only thing they will not take is trash, but everything else, she says, including appliances, old tires, and other items will be accepted.   She adds that the prices will be determined when items are dropped off.

The pickup takes place on the west lot of the Kalona City Park.
