The much-discussed issue of FEMA flood mapping will be put on hold in Kalona. The Kalona City Council had previously spoken to FEMA officials about getting a 100 year flood plan into place for the area.  An apparent lack of funding from the federal organization is the reason why the town must put those plans off for now.  The council also continues finishing up final details on the Downtown Revitalization Project, which is now complete.

The council will hold a public meeting on June 6th to talk about construction on D Avenue from 2nd Street to Highway 1.  That meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Kalona Community Center.
