The Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office want to make sure you arrive safely to your destination over the holiday weekend.  The “Click It or Ticket” program which started last Monday is a program where law enforcement officials will be on the roadways making sure motorists are buckled up and are obeying all traffic laws through Iowa’s special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP).

Randy Hunefeld with the Iowa Department of Public Safety says that even though more motorists on the roads during the day, the chances of a fatality from not wearing seat belts at night is higher.  He says that just by wearing your seat belt, your odds increase by 50% of surviving a crash and reducing the extent of your injuries.  The sTEP program runs through June 5th.
