Two agricultural groups are teaming up to hold a cover crop field day in Washington County. The Iowa Learning Farms and Practical Farmers of Iowa will be at the Rob Stout farm next Wednesday at 5:30.  The field day begins with a complimentary evening meal, followed by a cover crop management discussion about yield response of corn and soybeans following fall-seeded rye and other cereal grains.

The group will also talk about planter setup for planting into cover crop residue, and soil quality improvements related to cover crop use.  Stout as well as area farmers George Schaefer and Steve Berger will share their experiences using cover crops in their farm management.

The Stout farm is located two and a half miles south of Highway 92 on Highway W-38 near West Chester.
