The first softball rankings are out and one area school is number two in their class. In Class 2A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks are ranked second behind Bondurant-Farrar. The Golden Hawks were 23-17 last season and really caught fire in the post season when they beat third ranked Wilton and Pekin to get to the state tournament. The Golden Hawks finished fifth at state and only had two seniors. Fellow Cedar Valley Conference schools Iowa City Regina is ranked eighth, and Wilton is eleventh.

In Class 3A, Clear Creek-Amana is number one, and Southeast Conference school Keokuk is ranked fifth.
