One woman is dead following a weekend shooting Sunday afternoon near Riverside.  Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar says deputies responded to a call shortly after 4:00 yesterday afternoon of gunshots being fired.  Dunbar says 54 year old Sharon K. Gerot of Riverside was found dead at 1355 Deer Run Drive south of Riverside.

He says a male acquaintance is in custody at this time.  Dunbar notes an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today.

Those responding to the scene were the Washington County Sheriff, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Washington Police Department and Riverside Fire Department.  KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
