The Demon baseball team opened their season hosting 4A Ottumwa. In a game heard on KCII, the Bulldogs got on the board first with the bases loaded in the top of the first a deep infield hit to short scored two runs. Ottumwa added four runs in the second and three more in the third. The Bulldogs would bring four more across in the fifth and would win 13-0. The Demons had a runner past second once on the night that was with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first, but Ottumwa pitcher Zach Throckmorton got a strike out to get out of the inning. Throckmorton held the Demons to two hits and struck seven Demons six of them were backwards K’s. Brad Weatherman had the Demons two hits. Afterwards Demon Head Coach Nathan Miller said their biggest correction needs to come on the mental side and they need to recapture their aggressive mentality. He’s confident they’ll have the right approach for their next game and will be hungry from that first win on Thursday when Mediapolis comes to town.
