Spring planting is almost complete and drivers still need to be mindful of the farm machinery on the roads.  Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar says most farmers will try to avoid traffic and stay out of the roadway but will have to drive in the travel lanes to avoid items along the shoulder.  He says when the equipment is on the roads, drivers should show extra caution when attempting to make a pass.

Dunbar says the newer farm equipment has turn signals to help alert drivers of possible turning.  He adds when following any piece of machinery to keep a safe distance.  Dunbar says to report any sort of dangers you might encounter either while driving the farm equipment or driving any other vehicle.
