The Washington City Council held a public hearing regarding the authorization of a loan agreement to pay for the city’s new Wastewater Treatment Project.  The cost of the project is a little over 20 and a half million dollars with the loan being spread over a 30 year term.  The Council held the first reading of an ordinance to amend the City Code to raise the sewer rates.

The current rates run from $33 a month to over $62.  The proposed rates will increase in range from almost $56 to over $107 which would take effect July 1st to cover the cost of the new Wastewater Treatment Project.

A contract with Simmering-Cory to administrate Davis-Bacon Labor Reporting for the Wastewater Treatment Project was approved as well.  This reporting is required by the Federal Government because of grants being received.

Discussion regarding the new City Administrator position will be held in a special session Friday morning at 10:00 in the old public library.
