The Washington County Master Gardeners has announced that Schylor Altenhofen will receive a five hundred dollar scholarship toward his agricultural education. The group says Altenhofen was selected based on his accomplishments in academics and leadership, as well as his involvement in FFA and 4-H. They also say Altenhofen’s desire to further his education in the area of horticulture and agriculture factored into the decision.
He is a 2009 graduate of Mid-Prairie High School, and has attended Wartburg College and Kirkwood Community College. Altenhofen will transfer to Iowa State University this fall, where he will pursue a degree in agricultural education.
After graduation, he says he plans to teach high school agriculture classes.
