Washington County Riverboat Foundation Grants Awarded

The Washington County Riverboat Foundation announced its Competitive Grant Awards last Wednesday for the spring of 2011.

WCRF Board President, Tim Putney says the almost $725,000 in grants are for projects around the area that will serve diverse and important needs.

Some of the larger grants awarded were $150,000 for the renovation of the historic stage and hall of St. Mary’s Parish, $74,800 to the Washington County Conservation Board for Phase 1 of Marr Park Campground and $110,000 to the Washington Community School District for classroom improvements.

City of Wellman – Severe Weather Warning Systems – $4,500

Blair House – Roof Planning & Design – $5,000

Stewart Boosters, Inc – Stewart School Sign – $7,000

WCDC, Inc – Rehab and Training Equipment – $7,920

Washington County Hospital Foundation – 2011 Care for Kids Golf Classic – $8,000

City of Brighton/ Fire Department – Equipment for New Pumper – $9,874

Crawfordsville Township Trustees – Crawfordsville Cemetery Repair – $10,000

Washington Community Schools – Media Enabled Classrooms – $10,000

Washington Economic Development Group – Regional Economic Development Activities – $10,000

City of Kalona – Ballfield Renovations – $10,000

Mid-Prairie Foundation – Kalona Elementary Playground – $10,000

Highland Community Schools/Music Boosters – Sound System Additions & Upgrades – $12,000

Washington County Historical Society – Red Brick School Renovation – $14,702
