The City of Washington has received the quarterly Municipal Grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF).  These grants are distributed to the cities in Washington County based on population from the 25 percent of the WCRF’s total revenues. Washington City Administrator Dave Plyman says these funds go into the city’s Capital Improvement Fund.

He says these funds have been used toward the Library project and land acquisition for a new Wellness Park. Plyman says the city purchased 90 acres of land from the Washington School District.

He adds half was paid last summer and the other half will be paid this summer. Plyman adds some extra money will be used toward the purchase of a house just east of the fire station for additional parking for the Fire Department.

He notes the money the city receives from the WCRF does not go toward general operations.
