Sunshine in the morning will be replaced by increasing cloud cover off an organizing storm system to the west of the region. A better chance for showers and thunderstorms will occur later tonight as they develop in western and central Iowa and then move into the area. Brief heavy downpours and maybe some small hail will accompany the stronger storms. The weather pattern will become stormy again by early next week. Episodes of showers and thunderstorms will be possible from Monday night through at least Wednesday. These accumulative bouts of rain will add to the area river flooding, as well as potentially produce flash flooding.
