Area Farmers Keeping Close Eye on Flooded Fields

A number Washington County farms have been affected by very heavy rains this week. Several rounds of thunderstorms have brought between four and six inches of rain to some parts of the county as of yesterday. Farmers in several areas have reported submerged crops as a result of heavy rainfall. Rob Stout is a grower with land near West Chester. He says parts of his land are under some standing water. Farmers will have to wait a few days before taking their next action.
Stout says corn and beans can last up to two to three days before they will declare any crops lost. If three days go by without any drying, crops still under any water may be lost.
