Nearly 50 Washington residents lost power for part of the afternoon Monday. The Washington County Safety Center says a blown transformer in the 300 block of West 2nd Ave. caused the outage around 3:45 yesterday afternoon. Alliant Energy reported 45 customers were affected, including KCII. The station was operating with power from a backup generator during the outage.
Officials with the Safety Center say there are many triggers that can blow a transformer, but the actual cause of the outage is still unknown. KCII will bring you more information on this story as it becomes official.
