Downtown was busy with activity over the weekend with two events. Main Street Washington hosted a youth art fair Friday night in Washington’s Central Park. Main Street Executive Director Amy Vetter says the art fair was the start of their marketing for their Celebrate Washington event in August.
The artwork was from youth from around the county. Vetter says over 210 pieces of art was on display in Central Park.
The winning entry which was by a student from Washington was purchased by Main Street and will be on display in the Washington Public Library along with the artwork from the adult art show in August. The other big event held was the 64th Annual Ridiculous Day.
Vetter says there was a steady amount of patrons that took part in supporting the local businesses. The Ridiculous Day parade started at 1:00 and had 38 float entries. KCII’s Big Red Radio was both in and announced the parade. Also held on Sunday, was the 5th Annual 5K/1mile walk benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
