The Demon softball team went back and forth with seventh ranked Keokuk in game one. In a game heard on KCII, the Demons took the early 1-0 lead in the first but the Chiefs responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. They’d score another in the second to go 3-1. Washington came back and tied it at 3-3, then the Chiefs led 4-3 and the Demons tied it again 4-4. Keokuk would score three runs in the fourth to lead 7-4 and again Washington would even it up with three in the top of the fifth. But in the bottom of the fifth the Chiefs put up five runs with just two hits. They benefited from three walks and a hit batter. Keokuk would win 13-7. For Washington Maddie Bohr went 3-3 with two stolen bases and an rbi. Kaitlin Buchholz had an rbi single and two stolen bases, Joni Irwin had two hits and an rbi.
In game two Keokuk led early 3-0, and would get out to a 6-1 lead. Washington scored a run late but the Chiefs won 6-2. The Demons are now 2-2 with the losses while Keokuk improves to 7-3. Washington heads to Oskaloosa tonight.
