Road construction is expected to cause delays for travelers on one of the area’s busiest roads.  A patching project will reduce U.S. Highway 34 to one lane between Jefferson County Road V-43 and V-63 near Batavia.  That work begins Tuesday; weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office.  Lane closures will be set up between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and motorists will be assisted through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car.

The project is scheduled to be completed by July 21st.
