The Demon baseball team opened conference play on the road in Keokuk with a doubleheader sweep and put up a ton of hits. The two games looked similar in scoring. In the first game, Keokuk took an early 2-0 lead but it was locked up at 3-3 going in the top of the fifth. Washington would get up 11-3 in the seventh and end up winning 13-3. In the second game, Keokuk led 2-0 early, but the Demons answered with three runs to take a one run lead. It was 3-3 in the fourth when the Demons took a one run lead and would get up 7-3 in the fifth. They’d score six runs in the sixth to win it 13-3. So the final score was the same in both games. Looking at some of the numbers, the Demons had 33 hits on the night. Martin Ponce pitched five innings in the first game to get the win and Brad Weatherman got the win in the second game. Jake Redlinger had three triples one in the first game and two in the second game. As a team Washington had 8 doubles on the night. With the wins, Washington improves to 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in the conference.
