The Washington Demon softball team took part in the Fairfield tournament over the weekend and came home with fourth place. The Demons beat Winfield-Mount Union 18-0 on Friday, then came back Saturday and lost to Wilton who started out the season ranked 11th in 2A. Wilton won 7-2.
The Demons then played host school Fairfield in the third place game. It was back and forth with the Demons getting up 5-1. The Trojans would come back and the two teams went to extra innings with it 6-6. The Demons scored two runs in the top of the 8th but Brittany Craft hit a three run shot to win the game 9-8.
The Demons are now 5-4 and have a busy week this week. They’ll play every night except tonight. They host Fairfield tomorrow.
