It was the second conference doubleheader for the softball teams. Washington swept Fairfield last Tuesday in Washington. Yesterday in a game heard on KCII, the Demons started out strong with Maddie Bohr on third and Joni Irwin at second Kaitlin Buchholz was at the plate in the top of the first and hit a double to score two. Joni Irwin would also have a two run double in the game as the Demons got out to a 7-1 lead. Fairfield rallied a run in the sixth and three in the seventh. The Demons won 7-4. Ashley Raush pitched the whole game for Washington.
In the second game Washington and Fairfield were tied at 2-2 ealry but the Demons were able to open it up and win 11-4. Lauren Vittetoe had a home run in that game. Her sister Emily started in the pitching circle and went four innings before Maddie Bohr came on in the fifth to finish. With the win the Demons are now 9-3 in conference play and Fairfield falls to 3-5.
