The Iowa Department of Transportation will receive funding for the construction of a bridge in Louisa County.  Senator Tom Harkin announced this week $65,000 will go to the construction of an innovative bridge in Wapello.  The Innovative Bridge Research and Deployment program funds projects that use new technology and methods that increase the safety of an area’s infrastructure.  The funding comes from the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration.

Senator Harkin is a senior member of the Appropriations subcommittee that funds the DOT.
