The IMS Baseball team put enough offense on the board to hold off the Pekin Panthers last night in Kalona. In a game heard on KCII, IMS got on the board first with an unearned run in the first and took a 2-0 lead when Levi Schrock led off the second with a solo homer. Despite the early lead for IMS, both they and Pekin would miss several opportunities as the two teams stranded a total of 21 base runners in the contest. Pekin cut the lead in half before IMS built a comfortable 7-1 lead with a five run fourth led by a suicide squeeze from Zeke Nebel and a 2 run double from Levi Schrock. Pekin would not go quietly, as the Panthers rallied for two in the 5th and three more in the 6th forcing IMS to bring in Jackson Brokaw to earn the save in the 7th as he struck out two of the final three batters for Pekin with the tying runs on base to preserve the win. IMS won 8-6. The teams combined for seven errors and issued 16 total walks. Marshall Schrock recorded the win for IMS improving to 2-1 on the season striking out seven, Tater Clubb took the loss for Pekin falling to 2-5 on the year Brokaw got his first save of the season in the win. Leaders for IMS at the plate were Levi Schrock drove in three on two hits and scored a run, Cameron Gingerich also drove in a pair and scored once. With the win IMS is 12-9 on the season and will be in action tonight in Iowa City against Don Bosco
