Also in baseball, Keota and Highland met in Cedar Rapids playing at the Kernels’ Veteran’s Memorial Stadium. Both teams took turns leading and in the top of the seventh when Casey Sieren hit an inside the park home run to give Keota a 4-3 lead. Highland loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with two outs but the game ended on a pop out to second.

For Keota, Patrick Frank pitched 4 innings striking out 4 and Evan Hammes pitched 3 innings striking out 3.   Tanner McClenahan went 1-2, with 2BB, 2 SB and scored 2 runs, Jon Allaman went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, and Casey Sieren hit a 2-run HR.  Keota’s defense turned 2 double plays and Jon Allaman threw out a runner to end a threat in the 3rd inning.

The Eagles are now 5-3 while Highland falls to 8-5.
