Groups seeking to present floats in this weekend’s Kalona Fun Days parade have a theme to adhere to. Kalona Chamber of Commerce Director Bobbie Peiffer says the floats will feature a “Quilts” theme this year. She says the Chamber, who is in charge of the Kalona Fun Days, elected that particular theme after the downtown area underwent renovations highlighting Kalona’s history in quilting. One of the additions as part of the Downtown Revitalization Project was a variety of quilt blocks constructed into the sidewalks.
Peiffer says there is no pre-registration for the parade, so those interested should take their regular float entries to the park, or semi-float entries are meeting at the Kalona Sales Barn parking lot Saturday morning at 9.
