The Keota City Council has announced it will have a vacant chair in the near future and will be appointing someone to fill that chair.  City Clerk Niki Osweiler says the council will appoint someone at the next council meeting on Monday, June 20.  She added the public does have the right to petition for a special election.  If residents choose to do that, they must obtain at least 200 signatures and then present the petition at the June 20th meeting.  Petitions can be picked up at city hall during regular business hours.
